SAFE AND RAPID-CHANGING MARKETS

Implementing SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) in environments exposed to accelerated change can present its own set of challenges. In this edition, I evaluate some of them.

Overcoming Challenges in Implementing SAFe in Rapidly Changing Environments
|
Apart from the challenges of SAFe implementation, the new reality also implies a new set of issues. These are some I have identified when companies are exposed to accelerated change:
#1: Exponentially Changing roles: In an organization exposed to accelerated change, the roles required are constantly evolving and may differ from those prescribed by SAFe. This can make it difficult for organizations to fully adopt the framework because they aren't able to adapt their roles and processes to align with the roles prescribed by SAFe
#2 Learning approach: to enable effective learning in an accelerated environment, organizations need to understand how people learn when exposed to market disruptions and how to decrease stress under these conditions. SAFe doesn't address these factors.
#3 Resources and fast-moving markets: implementing and sustaining SAFe can be expensive and require significant resources, including training, tools, and support. This is exacerbated when facing accelerated change. Organizations that lack the skills to align resources with rapidly changing markets may struggle to implement and sustain the framework.
#4 Lack of understanding of the brain: for organizations to adapt and respond effectively, it's important to understand how the brain processes and responds to accelerated change. However, SAFe doesn't provide tools or guidance on this topic.
